Winter Hike Up The Heart Creek Trail Waterfalls

Heart Creek Trail waterfalls is a hike located in Canmore, Alberta, Canada, just across from the hamlet of Lac Des Arcs. The trail is an easy to moderate 4.8km hike round trip and takes about 2 hours to complete. The trail leads to a waterfall, and a weeping wall, and offers scenic views of the surrounding mountains.

In winter the smaller falls and the weeping wall are frozen which attracts ice climbers to the area.

The trail is known for its beautiful waterfalls, wildflowers, and wildlife viewing opportunities during the summer. It is a very popular trail among hikers and nature enthusiasts. That being said is much quieter to visit in the winter months.

The upper falls are not easy to get to with the rushing stream cascading down through the canyon. It is possible with some skills involved using logs and/or planning to get a bit wet. The falls are worth the effort to find and see however please use caution.

Micro Spikes are highly recommended for any winter hiking as well as to bring along Hiking Essentials to be ready for anything the Alberta weather and wildlife have in store.

There are lots of hikes to do from this one trailhead lot. There is a cave hike, and a summit climb as well. Find hikes here:
