Three Sisters Creek And Waterfall Hike
|The Three Sisters Waterfall hike is an easy 3.4 km hike where you can explore some amazing waterfall features along the way. The path isn’t well marked but as long as you stay alongside Stewart Creek you won’t get off track.
Getting there:
Heading west from Calgary exit the first overpass after Dead Man’s Flats, Three Sisters Blvd/Hwy 742. At 742 4 way stop continue through on Three Sisters Blvd to a dead end. Not a lot of parking as the only parking is along Hubman Landing residential district. Please be courteous.
Enter the trail through the gate and follow the forested pathway of Highline Trail.
You’ll know you are on the right path when you come to a wooden bridge crossing the creek. The wood slab picnic table off to the right offers a place to relax and enjoy the sound of nature or a picnic before venturing on. Take a left and follow the creek up to the falls.
Continue up the trail where you will see the waterfalls at the old dam site. A great place to hang out and take some cool shots.
This is Not The End!
Cross the creek above the falls on a trail of boulders laid out from past hikers. Find the trail again to the left of the dam or follow the creek bed.
We chose to hike up the creek which was fun maneuvering around all the smaller falls along the way.
The upper falls are easier to access via creek bed. The end of the treed path leads you to a narrow path over to the top of the falls if you are a bit more daring. Not sure if there is much else to see upstream from here.
Taking the treed path up, and the creek bed down made for a more adventurous hike. Creating your own path is a fun way to explore this trail. Due to path not clearly marked, many people do not go beyond the dam unaware there is more to see upstream.
