Who doesn’t love a hot bowl of Soup on a cold day or any day for that matter? Soups are a great meal in themselves. Add some bread of your choice and its a full meal deal. I like to add my own twist to cooking. In this recipe, I add a bit of dry mustard and chicken stock to make this Tasty Ham Bone Green Split Pea Soup with Dry Mustard tasty as well as stand out from the crowd.
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 C Green Split Peas
- Ham Bone
- 500 ml of Chicken Stock
- 2 C Diced Ham + Meat off Bone
- 1 Small Onion
- 1 Tsp Minced Garlic
- 2 Lg Carrots Diced
- 2 Celery Stalks
- 1/4 Tsp Frenches Dry Mustard
- 1/4 Tsp Italian spice
- Himalayan Sea Salt and Pepper to taste
Directions:
Cover and simmer ham bone in 2 Liters of water or ( Alkaline water ) for 2 hours .
Pour peas into pot with cold water and let stand 15 min and rinse well.
Dice Onion, garlic, celery and carrot in dicer.
Remove bone and strain. Pull excess meat off the bone and add to stock as well as diced ham. Add chicken stock and diced veggies to the broth.
Add mustard and spices along with peas.
Simmer Approx 1 – 1 1/2 hr or
until peas are soft and blend in well.
