Delectable Hearty Winter Chili
|This delectable hearty winter chili will keep you warm on a cold winter’s evening.
Chili con carne, or simply chili, originated in the southwestern United States, specifically in Texas. The dish has its roots in Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine and typically consists of chili peppers, meat (usually beef), and a variety of spices. It has since become a popular dish throughout the United States and around the world.
Change it up by using different beans, vegetables, and spices.
Ingredients For Delectable Hearty Winter Chili
- 1 lb Hamburger
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1/2 Onion
- 5-6 Garlic Cloves
- 1 Lg Carrot
- 1-2 Pepperoni Sticks
- 1-2 C Fresh Mushrooms or 1 can stems & pieces.
- 1 C chopped Spinach
- 1 can Corn
- 2 tbsp Chili Powder
- 1/2 tbs Paprika
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric
- 1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper or to liking
- 1 can (398g) Maple Brown Beans
- 1 Can White Kidney beans (540 g) drained
- 1 Can Black Beans (450g) drained
- 1 Can Diced Tomatoes (796g)
- 1/2 tsp Himalayan Salt and Pepper
- 1/2 C Water
- Garlic and Herb Cheese to top
Instructions:
Start frying lean hamburger with Olive oil in a 4 qt stock pot.
In chop/dicer add Carrot, Onion, and Garlic and dice finely. Chop Spinach and Mushrooms. Slice Pepperoni stick in bite size or 1/4″ slices. Add to pot with Hamburger. Fry for 5-10 min stirring often.
ADD Corn, and strained Beans, and Spices, and stir well for 5 min. Add Water and diced Tomatoes. Stir, cover, and simmer for a minimum of 1 hour.
Top with shredded cheese and serve with garlic toast. Yummy!!
