6 Stunning Waterfalls In The Sheep River Valley, AB

There is so much to discover along HWY 546 including these 6 Stunning Waterfalls in the Sheep River Valley just west of Turner Valley Alberta, Canada.

As to date we have found 7 wonderful waterfalls to explore in the Sheep River Valley.

#1 Hidden Falls

Hidden falls are found just past the area where the sheep are usually located. There is a bridge crossing and the falls are to the left of the bridge. It is not that easy to get to however if you stay to the East of the creek toward the river canyon you will see the falls under the bridge. Stay safe.

#2 Tiger Jaw Falls

Tiger Claw is located at the Indian Oils trail parking lot. Along the river head west to the bridge. It is under the bridge. This trail also leads to Dyson Falls.

#3 Dyson Falls

Dyson falls is approx 8km return trail. Located at the Indian Oils parking lot, head west over the bridge and follow the trail to the left. This one can be tricky, when you get to the creek follow it left down the creek where it literally drops off out of nowhere.

#4 Sheep River Falls

Sheep River Falls is the most popular touristy of the falls along HWY 546 being only a .5 km walk. It is located just a bit past the Indian Oils trailhead.

#5 Blue Rock Falls

Continue west to another bridge crossing where you will find this gem. walk to the right of the road to the creek walking up a bit to see this unique bluish-colored rock formation with a few little falls. There is a trail up the stair that takes you to some lovely views as well, continue the loop for a hike.

Junction Falls is the last of the falls on long HWY 546. The loop parking lot is a nice place to picnic or venture on this 14 km hike to see the lower and upper falls.

Winter is a wonderful time to view these falls as well before Dec 15th when they close the road for the winter.

Take the HWY 546 Road trip and discover all the Sheep River Valley has to offer.

A log book is a great way to keep track of all your adventures and is a keepsake to pass down for generations. I recommend Hiking Adventure Log Book found on Amazon.

Update:

#7 Triple Falls

Triple Falls is also a hidden gem. It is approx. 1.9 km hike through the bush along the ridge from Tiger Jaws falls at Indian Oils. Just before the bridge there is a trail on the left, It’s not too well travelled so it can be tricky to find and stay on. Just follow the canyon and it will eventually trail down when you here rushing water. There are better trails than some to go down, find what feels safe for you.

It is absolutely stunning.
