4 Roadside Waterfalls In Alberta

Exploring the picturesque waterfalls along Rainy Creek, Canmore Creek, Hood Creek, and Sheep River Creek is an adventure that promises to captivate nature enthusiasts and wanderlust seekers alike. These hidden gems, tucked away from the roadside, offer a serene escape into the heart of nature’s landscapes.

#1 Rainy Creek Falls

This gem is a .3 km walk off the roadside at the Mustang Hills. and Rainy Creek Falls Trailhead. To get to the Rainy Creek Falls you walk through the grassy area and stay to the right. A tiny trail will lead you down a quite steep hill either to the top of the falls or the windy switchback down to the bottom of the falls.

Really a pretty little waterfall for sure. More info and video on this waterfall HERE.

#2 Quarry, Canmore Creek Falls

This hidden gem is just across the road from Quarry Lake in Canmore Ab. Once you cross the road at the parking lot, follow the trail to the left of the creek and keep right. It’s a bit tricky but there is a trail leading down to the bottom however it is also a bit steep. Another sweet little waterfall to enjoy without a long hike.

#3 Sheep River Bridge Falls

Sheep River Valley has many hidden gems along HWY 546. Did you know there are 6 Waterfalls to be found here at least?

This one is under a bridge just past the sheep lookout pasture. At the bridge walk to the left of the creek and down to the edge of the canyon wall to get a good view of the falls. I’m sure if you are daring enough it’s possible to reach but I don’t recommend it. We tried to the right of it and was not safe. So please use caution.

This waterfall is a beauty.

#4 Hood Creek Falls

Along HWY 40 in Kananaskis country, there are thousands of waterfalls to be found. Most take a bit of a hike to get to except for O’Shaughnessy which is right on the side of the road.

To get to these falls walk up the creek just around the corner. It is a nice place to sit and relax and listen to the splash of the water and the sounds of nature. Best to do these falls before July as this creek dries up over hot summers.

If you love chasing waterfalls as I do check out my blog on 40 Plus Waterfalls where I share my favorites.

Of course we can’t forget about Sheep River Falls, Tiger Jaw, Bow Falls, and Elbow River Falls however very busy popular falls to visit.

Enjoy!!
