Nori Processing
Nori is bred, farmed, and cultivated in ocean crops. Nori is not sold in the fresh state but is immediately dried into sheets. This was formerly carried out by a laborious sun-drying process, but the job is now highly mechanized.
The farmers only take what they can process in one day. The nori is first washed with freshwater then fed into a shredding machine which reduces it to pieces 0.5 x 1 cm in size. The cut nori is then thoroughly mixed with freshwater, 4 kg of nori per 100 liters. Read more interesting info on seaweed farming and cultivation here
